Dom Brown & Phil Spalding Blue to Brown
In January I was lucky enough to shoot Dom Brown’s band Blue to Brown at the Swindon Arts Centre. As a kid growing up just outside Birmingham in the 80’s Duran Duran were the local boys made good and I was a big fan. The original lead guitarist Andy Taylor left the band for the second time in 2006 to be replaced by Dom. (https://youtu.be/BUN3s-Meh_U) Dom’s bass player is Phil Spalding, he originally played bass with Toyah in the very early 80’s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4s7xqntVaY going on to play with bands such as OMD, Heaven 17, Terence Trent D’arby https://youtu.be/ynIHsHYaig0, Alison Moyet and Talk Talk in the 80’s, and then Robbie Williams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy4mXZN1Zzk, kylie minogue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ITBx8yVyBg , Elton John and Seal (https://youtu.be/4x1x4ofpTl4 and many others in the 90’s. Phil organised the event as a charity concert with the proceeds going to the hep c positive charity in Swindon and the Commonweal school restoration fund, who supported Blue to Brown as the Commonweal Collective.
